Hello and welcome, I’m Kim.

It’s only fair you get to know a bit about me.

First things first…

I LOVE pens, pompoms and paperplanes. I have lots of pens, from paint pens to biros to felt tip pens, I also love making paper planes and pom poms…because I think I am at my happiest when I am creative.

I grew up loving art and this passion led me to Edinburgh College of Art where I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Applied Arts.Ever since I was a child I have been a scribbler, a daydreamer and a helper and I wanted to combine my passions for art and helping people so went on to study Art Psychotherapy, graduating from Queen Margaret University with an MSc in Art Psychotherapy.

So here we are, I work as an integrative Art Therapist based in Glasgow. I bring with me over 12 years experience of working with children, youth, and adults in many different settings, like schools (primary & secondary), community, health care, and charities across Scotland. I have strong working knowledge of child and adolescent development, child protection and safeguarding, safe creative therapeutic environments, and social justice.

Through my work as an Art Therapist I aim to empower and inspire, whilst supporting the emotional and mental wellbeing of the people I work with.  My goal is to provide a safe confidential space, in which individuals have the freedom to work at their own pace, without judgement, pressure, or expectations.

My therapeutic approach integrates a range of techniques tailored to suit each individual's needs. While I draw on diverse methods, my foundation lies in psychodynamic and attachment-based theories. This means that I place significant emphasis on the client-therapist relationship and the client's internal representations, understanding them as central to the therapeutic process.

I am passionate about supporting communities and have several years experience working in community settings.  I am one of the co-founders of The Glasgow Initiative of Facilitation & Therapy (GIFT), a community therapeutic arts organisation.

Throughout the years my therapeutic practice has developed and evolved and for the last 4 years I have provided creative consultancy that advocates for children, young people and deprived communities.

I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a full member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT).  I am a PVG scheme member and hold Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance. I practice in accordance with the professional standards,  practice guidance and code of ethics outlined by these governing bodies.  To ensure good practice, I attend regular clinical supervision to critically examine my interventions, biases, and emotional responses. I also attend regular continued professional training sessions to keep up to date with relevant developments.  In short I make sure I am providing the right service whenever we work together and am committed to working inclusively with individuals of different cultures, genders, sexual orientation and age.
